Press release below:
Hello – I am a local Calgary resident going through perimenopause and a certified Yoga therapist (MRU alumni).
I began a social media group about 2.5 years ago, supporting women in perimenopause and menopause; which has grown to over 5,500 women! This is a grassroots movement, spearheaded by myself, along with two volunteers who monitor posts and membership requests; we are Canadian Perimenopause Menopause support and our first ever symposium is coming up!

Who: Jessica Erlendson van Remmen, a holistic health coach and founder of CPMS will be hosting other experts to present information to women that is relevant, reliable and accessible to them in Canada! (Because most of the information we can get is UK or US based!)

Monday: Nurse practitioner Amanda Cameron – Why? Because we need to know what we can get via prescription when our doctors are not informed about perimenopause and menopause.

Tuesday, Nov 21 – Nutritionist Madeline MacKinnon – Why? Because we need to know what to eat to help ourselves with our symptoms when hormone disruption is causing us to miss work, need medical leaves, and hurting our relationships.

Wednesday, Nov 22 – Acupuncturist/TCM Erin Tremblay – Why? Because we need relief from muscle tension, digestive issues, hormone headaches, irregular cycles and TCM can help, but women don’t know this is an effective option.

Thurs, Nov 23 – Holistic health and perimenopause – Why? Because women need to know the way they live their lives (eating, sleeping, exercise, and mindset) can impact their overall wellbeing much more than they could possibly imagine.

Friday, Nov 24 – Live question and answer! Why? Because the information that women can readily get is conflicting and American or UK based so it doesn’t translate into things we can get easily and do to help ourselves. As the founder of a very active group that has been growing at 7-10% the last year, Jessica has heard it all and can guide women in their perimenopause and menopause journey towards wellbeing! This will also be a chance to celebrate all that we have learned. Previous guest speakers will be invited and may attend as their availability allows. Any specific questions for practitioners who aren’t in attendance will be forwarded to them by the host, Jessica

What: Information for women in Canada! We are underserved in perimenopause, confused, isolated and abandoned by a medical system who tells them they are “too young” or will have to suffer with symptoms; most feel so alone and find the support group a great comfort but they need more information to take care of themselves.

When: Nov 20-24 via zoom 4 pm mountain time with replay available for viewing across Canada!

Where: Online! So we can help women across Canada using Canadian health care examples and products that are available to us.

How: $25 tickets available via Stripe link

I estimate that there are 1.6 million women in Canada right now, suffering with troublesome to debilitating symptoms in perimenopause and most of us are undertreated as well as not educated in this area. We are isolated and alone. The group is helping but we need more information that applies to Canadian women and this symposium will fill this need. I need help to get the word out to the general public and CBC is the way to get this message into the ears of the women in need! 80% of women will have these kinds of disruptive symptoms and many of them just think they are going crazy! My aim is to let them know they are not alone and there is a lot they can do to feel better.

Please join the growing FB group via the QR code below. Each request is screened by myself or one of my volunteers to ensure they are a Canadian, in Canada or have ties to Canada. We also monitor all of the posts in the group to make sure the environment remains supportive and there is no bullying of any kind tolerated. Each woman is supported in their own journey, whether they want to use prescriptions or go all natural.

Take care,
Jessica Erlendson van Remmen
